About the Society
The Anstruther Philharmonic Society (formed in 1892) is a choral society, based in the East Neuk of Fife, rehearsing and performing in and around Anstruther. We have a friendly and welcoming approach to everything we do and strive for high standards of performance. We are known locally as ‘the Phil’.

The Phil has performed a great variety of works, including:
The Society is governed by a Committee in accordance with its Constitution. The Committee is responsible for the week to week running of the Society, its concerts, events and fundraising activities.

What we do (adapted from the Society's Constitution):
- Study and practice choral music
- Give two concerts each year, one in December and one in March, featuring professional soloists and orchestra
- Foster public appreciation and knowledge of choral music
The Phil has performed a great variety of works, including:
- Bach's Magnificat
- Brahms 'Leibesleider Waltzes'
- Handel's Messiah
- Handel's 'Ode for St Cecilla's day'
- Hummel's Masses
- Purcell's Come Ye Sons of Art
- Purcell's 'Dido and Aenaes'
- Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols
- and many others
